World Vision supporters across the country advocate for children through emails to Congress and other online activism. But advocacy doesn’t stop there. You can make an even more powerful impact for kids around the world by meeting in-person or virtually with your members of Congress and their staff.
What do World Vision Advocates do?
We advocate directly with members of Congress so that kids around the world can experience the full life God intended. Your elected leaders want to hear from you – we’ll teach you how to meet with them in person and inspire them to take action that can help millions of kids overcome poverty. This type of advocacy takes time, but it’s easier than you think! No experience necessary – we provide all the training you need.

Frequently Asked Questions
World Vision Advocates have helped pass nearly one new law each year—laws that empower kids and ensure they experience the full life God intends for them. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but we’ve seen God move in beautiful ways when we connect with our lawmakers on a personal level. With faithful engagement over time, our community has developed influential relationships with elected leaders that have led them to introduce and cosponsor legislation, attend learning events hosted by World Vision, and fight against cuts to U.S. foreign assistance. Meeting in person with members of Congress is the most impactful advocacy you can do!
World Vision Advocates receive monthly emails with advocacy activities, resources to learn more about the issues, legislative updates, and unique training opportunities to build advocacy skills. Our Grassroots Organizers also provide personal support and guidance as you prepare to meet with your members of Congress and their staff—walking you through the process each step of the way.
The best part about being a World Vision Advocate is that you’ll have flexibility to advocate when it works best for your schedule. You can develop a meaningful relationship with your member of Congress if you meet with their office twice a year, as well as connect with them through timely updates or relational touches throughout the year. Don't worry, we'll guide you on how to do this!
Yes! World Vision advocates for kids with every member of Congress, no matter what party they belong to. Nearly 90% of Congress publicly claims faith in Christ. This means that even if you disagree with their political views, you can find common ground and encourage them to use their power for good.
You’re not alone! Most Advocates feel a little nervous when they start. Don’t worry—your member of Congress doesn’t expect you to be an expert. Plus, we’re here to support, encourage, and coach you every step of the way. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just share your heart and the stories that have moved you—God will go before you!
If you have more questions or want to talk to someone about it, you can always email advocate@worldvision.org to connect with us.
"At first, I put a lot of pressure on
myself to convince my representatives
to 'do something.' But God totally changed
my heart and perspective…I could show up
to the meetings without an agenda to promote,
but instead with a genuine desire to reflect God’s
love and compassion.”
– Advocate Anna Kostrivas, AZ
